Almost after giving birth to Kaia she was breastfeeding like a wee champ. At her birth she was 6 pounds 11 ounces...7 days later she is already 8 pounds!

The home birth was amazing. It was relaxing and made the transistion easy on all of us. We just cozyed up as a little family in our own bed and had a sleep while the midwives, doula , mom anna and Al drank champagne and ate lasagna ;)

What an awsome experience for a mother to witness. Although I tried so hard to get there for the actual birth, I arrived just 12 minutes after this precious human being entered the world "in a shot"...literally I'm told. Melanie was glowing (not sure from sheer joy or relief), and Alan was proud, so proud, of both of them, this was evident. I could only cry...hold my daughter and gaze into face of this new member of their family. I've never really gotten a full body hug from Alan but I can tell you it felt like he was hanging on for dear life in the joy he was sharing with me. To hold my first grandbabe for the first time was incredibly like holding my daughter for the first time.. mind boggling. How can such beauty come from such an ordeal. I raise my glass to you both as we have together over the past week again and again. Love Mom.
